Kuala Lumpur. Airport

We packed up the bike with the gear that will accompany it.
The first mission was to drive 50kms to our airport home stay.
Robyn went by Grab taxi and was there in an hour. I took almost 2 hours. I got tangled up in the spaghetti junctions and then Tomtom and maps.me started to disagree but we got there in the end.

The weather gods have been particularly unkind with constant rain overnight and this morning. By the time I got there it was just spitting but the damage was done the bike was dirty again so out with the hose and washed it down.

We dropped our clothes and bits and pieces at the guesthouse and then headed for the airport to send the bike on its journey home.

The first obstacle was the day ticket office. When I booked the bike they gave me a booking number and this was all I would need apparently. Apparently not actually, the guy said I needed to ring Maskargo and have them send through the documentation. This proved tricky as our local sim cards are only for data. The man lent me his phone and after 40minutes on hold I asked him if there might be another way.
He dialled up another number and after I explained our predicament I handed the phone to its owner and 5 minutes later we had our passes and could proceed.

The man with the BF gun was happy to let us through now and we then played office hop between the police and customs. Not only were our details entered into the usual large books we were entrusted to carry one of them to four separate offices for who knows what to be entered until we returned to original office to get the big tick.

Now to find the cargo office. It is a very large and busy cargo port as you can imagine but before long we had our destination.
It all went smoothly with details and measurements taken. I accompanied it onto the loading dock, paid the money and that was that.

Bye bye bike.

We then had about a 40 minute walk back to the original office to hand in out passes and retrieve our passports.
It turned out to be quite a big day.
Grab cab back to our digs followed by a swim and a freshly cut coconut.

For any biker mates who would like to ride part way home with us I’ll put out a message as to the timing.
Unfortunately there won’t be too much notice as it will depend on how long it takes to clear MPI and customs.

  1. I think we will have to put some bright lights down Balmoral Drive to make you feel at home.
