Day 107. Amritsar
This morning after a leisurely breakfast we headed to the Partition museum. The reason for the breakfast being leisurely is the friendly staff at this hotel make a big fuss over us and ensure we know all the breakfast options available to us and are eager to chat about our journey and what we should see and do. We feel a bit spoilt. The Partition museum is near the Golden Temple and is a very popular exhibition which tells the story of how Partition came to be and the upheaval and chaos, before, during and after. Basically the architect who had the job of drawing new boundaries for India and East and West Pakistan had six weeks to carry out this work. It divided the areas essentially into Muslim and Hindu dominated countries which meant mass exodus for 20 million people and the death of possibly up to 2 million but no one really knows.
