Day 150. Chiang Mai
We are having a lazy day today. This morning we took a little stroll around the local area. We stopped for morning tea and looked in a few shops.

Looking out from the hotel reception to the pool. The hotel is away from the main tourist area in a quiet street. We are staying another night tomorrow night. The staff are young and friendly. Free washing machine and dryer- a bonus for grubby travellers like us.

Just opposite our hotel is a little cafe that is a front for a local charity that helps students that originate from hill tribes into full time employment.
They have volunteers from all over and offer a 12 month volunteer position to one young person from Germany. They live with the students, mentor and teach them English as well as help out in the cafe. We had a delicious lunch there and made a small donation.
It is absolutely chucking it down this afternoon so we are planning the next few days, we really only have about 3 weeks left on the road.
This afternoon we visited a local mall where we got SIMed up and had a wander around.
We then walked back to the hotel and we had to walk through some pretty big puddles of surface flooding hoping that we wouldn’t get soaked by a passing vehicle.
Just watched a netflix movie to round out a relaxing day.
It has been our first day off the bike in more than 15 except for Bagan where we rode scooters all day!
Tonight we walked to the end of our street to a road that has several restaurants that mostly local eat at. The food tastes good and is cheap.

Highly recommend a massage or support the cafe at the women’s prison, a great initiative to help prisoners with a skill when being released. Money goes into an account for them. Something a little different. Enjoy Chang Mai!
