Day 144. Bagan - Kalaw
Our day began with a photo shoot in front of some Pagodas. Min Min is a good photographer and keen to enlarge his portfolio and share his photos with us.

The Tom Tom and phone showing the route, bit blurry, hard taking a photo leaning into the corner and hanging a camera over his shoulder.

I figured this guy had a harder ride than me!

We have a new driver Mr. Win who is very nice.
Then it was off through the flat and undulating countryside on our 290km journey. The temperature climbed and we were really hot by time we stopped for lunch. Lunch was Shan noodles which have become a bit of a staple here for us. Just noodles and veggies but in a really tasty broth.
After lunch we had only 70km to go and headed into the Shan mountain range. Very beautiful countryside and wound out way up and up towards our destination, Kalaw.

Just as entered the town the tourist police flagged us down. Min Min in the car following said something to them and they asked us to follow them. It was soon obvious we were being escorted to our hotel.
They were really nice blokes and we all lined up for the obligatory photographs.
They left with some paperwork and we settled in to our nice villa. Our villa has some nice touches like a reclining bed head and these little beauties to add to the romantic setting.
We are at 1350m so the air is nice and cool. Kalaw is a hilltop tourist resort town, very pretty.
There are many things to see and do around here but sadly we don’t have the time to see all of what this region has to offer on this tour.
View from the hotel restaurant tonight.
Love the comfy footwear! Beautiful photos once again, handy that your guide is a keen photographer so you’re both in them.
ReplyDeleteMin Min was an excellent guide, lots of fun.
